Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, at Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other children. Her vivid imagination allowed her to escape the pressures of daily life. Prior to learning how to write and read, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. When she was eight, she bought her first electric guitar and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year she released her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Even though she was still studying, she already made a name of herself in the local music scene. But her dream was to be able to play on a larger level. The singer moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing on his show. Parton was hired in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she quit The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her solo songs like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner, wrote"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and had it reach No. For the first time, in 1974.
